Grading Scale

5pts: You’ll not only complete the peer review on time, following the instructions meticulously, but will wow me continuously with your attentive reading and spot-on concrete suggestions. Your review will be both insightful and engaging, well-written, and have very few errors or typos.

4pts: You’ll complete the peer review on time and follow the instructions carefully, demonstrating attentiveness and care in your reading, wowing me occasionally with your insightful suggestions. Your review will be perceptive and well-written and proofread, with few errors or typos.

3pts: You’ll complete the peer review on time, following the instructions and demonstrating an average to below-average level of careful in your reading, offering a few helpful, concrete suggestions, but perhaps neglecting to turn your criticisms into suggestions here and there or taking other non-wowwing shortcuts. Your review will be somewhat well-written and somewhat perceptive, with few errors or typos.

2pts: You’ll complete most of the review but a bit late, mostly following the instructions. You’ll demonstrate a below-average effort overall, mechanically following the steps without offering helpful commentary or much in the way of concrete suggestions. Your review will be rushed, sloppily written, or unproofed.

1pt: You’ll complete the review on time but offer a half-ass effort that looks like you reviewed your classmates’ paper in a mad rush on your iPhone on the way to class.

0pts: You’ll not complete the review at all or do it too late to be of any use to your peer.
