Digital

In addition to my scholarship and teaching, I work as an Assistant Director in the Digital Writing and Research Lab. As an AD, I’ve helped develop the Digital Writing and Research Certificate, a program to help Lab members expand their technological skillsets and showcase their digital work.*

I joined the lab in 2010 as a member of the Immersive Environments project group. That year, the group designed and implemented an alternate reality game for the rhetoric classroom, called Battle Lines. The group’s research culminated in a publication in Kairos, “Crossing Battle Lines: Teaching Multimodal Literacies Through Alternate Reality Games,” winner of the Kairos Best Webtext Award in 2014.

In 2011-2012, I lead a project group that researched ebooks and their potential utility for the DWRL. The group designed and authored an ebook using Apple iBooks Author and developed versions in the more widely accessible PDF and EPUB formats. The text is available in all formats as part of the DWRL White Paper Series.
