{"id":178,"date":"2014-11-03T19:37:01","date_gmt":"2014-11-03T19:37:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.dwrl.utexas.edu\/blouke\/?page_id=178"},"modified":"2014-11-03T19:49:59","modified_gmt":"2014-11-03T19:49:59","slug":"service","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.dwrl.utexas.edu\/blouke\/service\/","title":{"rendered":"Service"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the University of Texas, I\u00a0have filled a number of service and administrative roles, both in the Digital Writing and Research Lab and the Department of Rhetoric and Writing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Assistant Director, <a title=\"DWRL Home page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dwrl.utexas.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Digital Writing and Research Lab<\/a> (2012-2014)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>As an Assistant Director,\u00a0I shape policy, coordinate and\u00a0mentor other graduate student instructors, manage the Lab&#8217;s research project\u00a0groups, and design and present\u00a0workshops on pedagogy and technology. In addition, I organize and run annual\u00a0instructor orientations and speaker events.\u00a0Holding weekly office hours, I consult with fellow instructors on how digital technologies can enhance their pedagogical practices. I participate in long-term planning and budgeting for the Lab, as well as day-to-day operations such as scheduling, managing inventory, hardware and software testing, and web development and maintenance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Member, Editorial Collective for\u00a0<em><a title=\"TheJUMP Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/jump.dwrl.utexas.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Journal for Undergraduate Multimedia Projects<\/a> (TheJUMP)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An online journal dedicated to publishing outstanding undergraduate multimedia projects, <em>TheJump<\/em> also offers a unique pedagogical approach to publication. With each submission, the journal publishes the assignment prompt, reflections on the project from both instructors and the student authors, as well as responses composed by members of the editorial collective. In addition to reviewing numerous works, I created this\u00a0<a title=\"Response to Student work\" href=\"http:\/\/jump.dwrl.utexas.edu\/content\/response-1-1\" target=\"_blank\">visual\u00a0response<\/a> to one student&#8217;s project: &#8220;<a title=\"Re-Presentation: Kate Chopin's Story of an Hour\" href=\"http:\/\/jump.dwrl.utexas.edu\/node\/102\/layout\" target=\"_blank\">Re-presentation: Kate Chopin\u2019s The Story of an Hour<\/a>.&#8221; I encourage my own students to submit their projects to the journal, and I&#8217;ve been delighted to watch the journal being to thrive.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Scholar,\u00a0<a title=\"HASTAC Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hastac.org\/\"><em>Humanities, Arts, Science, and Technology Alliance and Consortium <\/em><\/a>(HASTAC)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A vast network of scholars across disciplines and continents, HASTAC provides a platform for collaboration and discussion for academics interested in the Digital Humanities. As a HASTAC scholar, I&#8217;ve had the opportunity to participate in forum discussions, reflect on digital pedagogy practices, and to <a title=\"HASTAC Interview with Liz Losh\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hastac.org\/blogs\/cate-blouke\/2014\/02\/23\/digital-corpora-and-lost-art-academic-blogging-interview-elizabeth-losh\" target=\"_blank\">interview digital rhetoric scholar Liz Losh<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At the University of Texas, I\u00a0have filled a number of service and administrative roles, both in the Digital Writing and Research Lab and the Department of Rhetoric and Writing.
