We stopped non other place than the Texas mother ship of gas stations, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buc-ees.com\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\">Buc-ee\u2019s<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Buc-ee\u2019s, is not only a gas station, but also a convenience store. I like to describe it as the Costco or Sam\u2019s Club version of convenience store. It has all the features of typical convenience store.\u00a0However, what makes Buc-ee\u2019s stand out among the rest of convenience stores, is it\u2019s deliciously jerky and other specialty snacks, large supply of furniture, college gear for every University in the state of Texas, and country home d\u00e9cor.<\/p>\n<p>With about 25 family members, and their general obsession with Buc-ee\u2019s we certainly spent our time looking around. I was looking around with my mother and three cousins. (Keep in mind they were ALL Texas Natives). I read aloud a country d\u00e9cor sign that read,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnless you\u2019re God or George Strait, take your boots off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I said, \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.georgestrait.com\/gs_biography.asp\" target=\"_blank\">George Strait<\/a>, who?\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6989\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.dwrl.utexas.edu\/countrymusic\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2016\/02\/il_570xN.230157420.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6989\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6989\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6989\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.dwrl.utexas.edu\/countrymusic\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2016\/02\/il_570xN.230157420-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"www.esty.com\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.dwrl.utexas.edu\/countrymusic\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2016\/02\/il_570xN.230157420-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sites.dwrl.utexas.edu\/countrymusic\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2016\/02\/il_570xN.230157420.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-6989\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">www.etsy.com<\/p><\/div>\n<p>After hearing those words out of my mouth, the expression on these Texans was full of disgust, disbelief, and absolute shock.<\/p>\n<p>During this time I was recovering from a severe concussion. My brain was very out of it.\u00a0Regardless of my current physical health circumstance at the time, my extended family certainly still does not let me forget I did not know who King of country music was, and were he came from\u2026.Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Strait, originally from Poteert, Texas, showed up on the country music scene in 1981, and still sings today. Strait became the definition of \u00a0traditional and <a href=\"http:\/\/countrymusichalloffame.org\/artists\/artist-detail\/george-strait\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;real country music&#8221;<\/a>. \u00a0Strait holds the record for singles that hit number one, total of 57 to inclusive of all chart, and has 33 platinum \u00a0or multi-platinum albums. While today&#8217;s country combines with pop, the <a href=\"http:\/\/countrymusichalloffame.org\/artists\/artist-detail\/george-strait\" target=\"_blank\">Country Music Hall of Fame<\/a> describes Strait&#8217;s music as drawing &#8220;from both the western swing and the honky-tonk traditions of his native Texas.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Thus, I learned very quickly one could not separate the name, \u201cGeorge Strait\u201d and the place, \u201cTexas,\u201d so here\u2019s five songs dedicated to the Lone Star State sung by Strait.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"George Strait - Amarillo By Morning (Official Music Video)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wtVeDaZxAXo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>5) \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.azlyrics.com\/lyrics\/georgestrait\/amarillobymorning.html\" target=\"_blank\">Amarillo By Morning<\/a>\u201d- (1982) Strait\u2019s cover of Terry Stafford&#8217;s original song 1973, hit the charts at fourth, and was featured on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.georgestrait.com\/albums_04.asp\" target=\"_blank\">platinum record<\/a>, &#8220;Strait from the Heart.&#8221; Accompanied by some strings,\u00a0Strait sings about Amarillo, Texas, a city in Texas that is not exactly a top destination spot. However, that is something that Strait is known for, singing about cities and places in Texas that may not be on one\u2019s radar.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"George Strait - Somewhere down in texas\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Q5FTN2bjTq0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>4) \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.azlyrics.com\/lyrics\/georgestrait\/somewheredownintexas.html\" target=\"_blank\">Somewhere Down in Texas<\/a>\u201d (2005) Wanna know where Strait is now? Texas of course! This song does not only speak about his experiences as a country music star, but reminds his fans where he came from, and where he\u2019s going back. One can get a little emotional after listening to this song, and thinking about Strait\u2019s career. The song was featured on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.georgestrait.com\/albums_02.asp\" target=\"_blank\">platinum record<\/a>, \u201cSomewhere Down In Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"George Strait - Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Jta1Gz9UnfA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>3) \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.azlyrics.com\/lyrics\/georgestrait\/doesfortworthevercrossyourmind.html\" target=\"_blank\">Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind?<\/a>\u201d (1984) Strait sings this song to a lover, According to the lyrics, she went to none other than\u2026. Dallas. (JUST KIDDING!) This song shows not only Strait\u2019s playful humor, but it\u2019s easy to sing along.
