{"id":1297,"date":"2017-03-22T13:49:46","date_gmt":"2017-03-22T18:49:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.dwrl.utexas.edu\/rhetoric-of-food\/?p=1297"},"modified":"2017-03-22T14:01:12","modified_gmt":"2017-03-22T19:01:12","slug":"ryan-hs-mentor-text","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.dwrl.utexas.edu\/rhetoric-of-food\/2017\/03\/22\/ryan-hs-mentor-text\/","title":{"rendered":"Ryan H&#8217;s Mentor Text"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The mentor text that I chose is a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.austinchronicle.com\/food\/2010-11-12\/uchiko\/\">restaurant review of a local sushi restaurant, Uchiko.<\/a> \u00a0I chose this text because I am very passionate about sushi and I love Uchiko (if only I could afford going there on my own). \u00a0I also think that I am interested in food reviews because I enjoy trying new restaurants and finding the best food in Austin. \u00a0This review, written by Kate Thornberry and published in the Austin Chronicle, does a great job of explaining not only the food that Uchiko has to offer, but the culture behind it as well. \u00a0The author begins by explaining that Uchiko is the sister restaurant of Uchi, another Austin sushi restaurant started by the same chef, Tyson Cole. \u00a0The author then gives some background behind Cole and his cooking philosophies, before delving into a very detailed description of some of the best items that Uchiko has to offer. \u00a0What is really interesting is the way that the author included quotes from the head chef Cole gave really in depth insight into the cultural context of the restaurant. \u00a0The reader can tell that chef Cole likes to make generosity a top priority, which I can say is very true after having eaten at his restaurants a handful of times. \u00a0The author does a great job of describing these values and their relation to the restaurant itself. \u00a0This text represents a good example of the food review genre because it gives a fair look into a new restaurant and analyzes the restaurant with more than just the menu in mind.<\/p>\n<div class=\"row bibliography-item-info\">\n<div id=\"copy-target-341716664\" class=\"bibliography-item-copy-text content col-md-12\">Thornberry, K.
