They were also things my mom regularly made for me.<\/p>\n<p>Garlic Butter Salmon<\/p>\n<div class=\"left\">\n<div class=\"ingredients\">\n<ul>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/2 cup unsalted butter, melted<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 tablespoon brown sugar<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 tablespoon lemon juice<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">3 cloves garlic, minced<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/2 teaspoon dried oregano<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/2 teaspoon dried thyme<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/2 teaspoon dried rosemary<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">2 pounds salmon<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"right\">\n<h3 id=\"directions\">DIRECTIONS:<\/h3>\n<div class=\"instructions\">\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with foil.<\/li>\n<li>In a small bowl, whisk together butter, brown sugar, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, thyme, rosemary, salt and pepper, to taste.<\/li>\n<li>Place salmon onto prepared baking sheet and fold up all 4 sides of the foil. Spoon the butter mixture over the salmon. Fold the sides of the foil over the salmon, covering completely and sealing the packet closed.<\/li>\n<li>Place into oven and bake until cooked through, about 15-20 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Serve immediately, garnished with parsley, if desired.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Reuben Grilled Cheese<\/p>\n<div class=\"left\">\n<div class=\"ingredients\">\n<ul>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">8 slices rye\u00a0bread<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 cup sauerkraut, drained<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 pound thinly sliced corned beef<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 cup shredded Wisconsin Swiss cheese<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/4 cup Thousand Island dressing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"right\">\n<h3 id=\"directions\">DIRECTIONS:<\/h3>\n<div class=\"instructions\">\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat a waffle iron to medium-high heat. Lightly oil\u00a0the top and bottom of the waffle iron\u00a0or coat with nonstick spray.<\/li>\n<li>Working in batches, place bread slices into the waffle iron. Top with sauerkraut, corned beef, Swiss, Thousand Island dressing and remaining bread slices.<\/li>\n<li>Close gently and cook until golden brown and crisp, about 3-4 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Serve immediately.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"swoop-container nolinks\">\u00a0Sheet Pan Steak and Veggies<\/p>\n<div class=\"left\">\n<div class=\"ingredients\">\n<ul>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">2 pounds baby red potatoes<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">16 ounces broccoli florets*<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">2 tablespoons olive oil<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">3 cloves garlic, minced<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 teaspoon dried thyme<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">2 pounds (1-inch-thick) top sirloin steak, patted dry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"right\">\n<h3 id=\"directions\">DIRECTIONS:<\/h3>\n<div class=\"instructions\">\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to broil. Lightly oil a baking sheet or coat with nonstick spray.<\/li>\n<li>In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook\u00a0potatoes until parboiled for 12-15 minutes; drain well.<\/li>\n<li>Place potatoes and broccoli\u00a0in a single layer onto the prepared baking sheet. Add olive oil, garlic and thyme; season with salt and pepper, to taste. Gently toss to combine.<\/li>\n<li>Season steaks with salt and pepper, to taste, and add to the baking sheet in a single layer.<\/li>\n<li>Place into oven and broil until the steak is browned and charred at the edges, about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I chose these recipes because they are pretty much the only things \u00a0I know how to cook.
