I am a PhD student in <a href=\"https:\/\/liberalarts.utexas.edu\/mals\/\">Mexican American and Latina\/o Studies<\/a> at the University of Texas at Austin. I am currently a teaching assistant in the department&#8217;s MAS 301: Introduction to Mexican American Latina\/o\/x Studies and work as a Digital Learning Specialist in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dwrl.utexas.edu\/\">Digital Writing and Research Lab<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, my research project examines the men of color who participate in the online communities of involuntary celibates, or incels. I am interested in the ways these men construct racialized forms of masculinity in this unique online space where misogyny and white supremacist ideologies are givens.<\/p>\n<p>My other research interests include: digital public theories, Latinx digital counterpublics, and how new media and technology are changing notions of Latinidad.<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to contact me, you can reach me at: javierrivera3830@utexas.edu.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello!
