Thea Williamson is the instructor for the course, a doctoral candidate in the Language and Literacy Studies program, part of the College of Education. Her current dissertation project is an examination of the discipline of English in the context of a linguistically and culturally diverse high school, and she continues to work with UTeach Urban Teachers as well as the Department of Rhetoric and Writing. When she is not reading or writing about reading and writing, she is likely on the soccer field or in the kitchen monitoring a large stock pot. Raised in coastal Virginia, it took some time for her to recognize “barbecue” as anything but pulled pork, but she has since adjusted. She still misses seafood terribly.
