I’m guessing that your audience is a family orientated person. The family has 3 kids and two dogs. They love animal too, so they need a roomy trunk in order to have space for their dogs and 3 kids. 2 of the kids seem small, so they might use booster seats for two of the kids. They might also like road trip too, I’m guessing because they need a lot of room.

    Summarize or describe the text
There is a red 2016 Volvo XC90 on the left side of the page. While on the right you have a family of five, there’s a mom, dad, two sons and a daughter. The name of the car is at the top of the page in bold red letters, with font that is different than the rest of the text. There is a sentence under the title saying nothing matters more than the ones you love. The bottom right hand corner has a quote from thecarconnection.com
Describe the audience, situation, and speaker
The speaker is one that is trying to sell the Volvo XC90. The audience is intended to be a family looking for a spacious car.
Label the salient elements of the text.
The ad shows a average size family that is happy to own the Volvo. The ad also includes two dogs which would cause us to assume the vehicle is spacious and all family oriented.
Analyze the relationship between the text and the context
The text included in the ad reinforces the context of the ad. The text is talking about family which is the audience that this ad is aimed at.

The author’s goal is to sell the 2016 Volvo to people that belong to a family. This is discerned based on the image of a family and the words that make up the advertisement. Since the image of the family successfully acknowledges the intended audience the words below it that indicate the audience aren’t needed.

  4. Like the other people who have commented, I think the strength of your ad is how clearly it identifies its target audience — families/parents. Personally, I prefer ads that layer information rather than separate it out in different pieces. Maybe the ad could be more cohesive in this respect.
