All American Girl

From her audition on American Idol to her first appearance at the Grand Ole Opry, I have been a huge fan every step of the way. Carrie Underwood is by far one of my favorite artists ever. I love everything about her, her voice, her style, her story, the way she carries herself, and most of all her humbleness. I can listen to her albums over and over and never get bored. When I listen to her music it allows me to block out all the stress, worries, and problems. I guess you can say it’s kind of like my happy place. There’s a Carrie Underwood song for every occasion. I listen to her music when I’m doing laundry, studying, grocery shopping, and even for some of the tougher times in my life, like when my parents got a divorce. I have compiled a list of some of my favorite Carrie Underwood songs along with the cover art of the album.

2. “Starts With Goodbye” (2005)
3. “Lessons Learned” (2005)

5. “Mama’s Song” (2009)
6. “Temporary Home” (2009)

8. “All American Girl” (2007)
9. “I Told You So” (2007)
10. “Something in the Water” (2014)

The songs above are only some of my favorites because the list could go on forever. I would love to one day meet Carrie Underwood and just tell her how much I love her and how fabulous I think she is. Her voice is just crazy amazing. When I’m at home I turn the music up really loud and pretend I’m at her concert. It is definitely on my bucket list to attend at least one Carrie Underwood concert. It would be so amazing to see her live. She did perform at the Thanksgiving game halftime show in Dallas one year but unfortunately I was unable to go. Oh, but believe me I was the first person in front of the TV when the half time show began.

My sister seems to think I have an obsession with Carrie Underwood, but truth is I just love her and how she doesn’t take anything she had achieved for granted. I see a little of myself in her. I just think it’s awesome how she grew up on a farm, put her dream of singing aside to go to school, and then ultimately in the end made her dream come true. I guess you could say Carrie Underwood is one of my idols. Who is your favorite artist? Do you have a country music idol?

Very interesting and detailed blog. I can feel the emotion as to why you find Carrie Underwood such an idol.

  2. Thanks, Lejla, for sharing this list of Carrie Underwood songs. I have been meaning to catch up with her (because I really haven’t been paying attention), and I am glad for your recommendations. It is funny to me that your sister claims you have an Underwood obsession–and also that you defend yourself by saying that you just enjoy her a lot. What’s wrong with being “obsessed” with the musicians we like the best? I guess it’s just that calling fandom an “obsession” makes it sound kind of creepy.

I loved reading your post Lejla,
I feel the same way about Carrie Underwood. Even though (like Dusty) I have not had the chance to catch up with her newest songs and album, her old material never gets really old to me. I just saw her on the CMA awards, and it reminded me how great she really is!
With all the new country artists coming out with new songs, albums and performances, sometimes we can forget about the older artists that we grew up loving!
I am glad for your recommendations, I am going to catch up to her newest songs now!

I wasn’t a huge Carrie Underwood fan until I saw her at the iHeart Radio Concert in Austin this past spring. The concert had some huge names that I knew, but I hadn’t listened to her music a ton. When she came out on stage the place went nuts. She played the songs that were popular at the time, and I recognized a few of them. I remember watching her on American Idol with my family, and it is cool to see how far she has come. She is a good representation of country music today, and I hope I have a chance to see her perform again.

I’ve always loved Carrie Underwood! I don’t know too many of her songs but I love the way she carries herself in the public eye. She stands up for what she believes in and always seems humbled and genuine. My favorite songs are “Before He Cheats” and “See You Again.” She always been an incredible performer or at least that’s what it seems like through my TV. Unfortunately I also haven’t had the opportunity to see her live but I think she’s the number one country artist I want to see in concert. She expresses so much emotion in her songs whether it’s being sassy or holding back tears, and don’t forget that huge voice. She kind of seems like the girl next door of country music. Thanks for sharing!

I have found another person who is “obsessed” with Carrie Underwood as I am. I completely agree with you on what you said about her. She seems like a very genuine person. I also have not been able to see her live but it is definitely something I want to do. Her music talks about things that lots of people can relate to and can listen to at anytime, no matter how they are feeling. I have come to love her more in this class after doing my album project on Blown Away and also made our video for “Starts with Goodbye”. I really enjoyed that because it is one of my favorite songs by her and it was great to make a video for it.
