Shelby’s Country Music Experience’s

My country music experiences were unexpected, but so worth it. I devoured chicken fried steak at Threadgill’s in Austin, watched my favorite artists rock the stage at the ACMs, was blown away by Jason Aldean’s electric concert, and was stunned by Carrie Underwood in “The Sound of Music.”

I think is a great way to share you experiences throughout the semester something that you might want to add to this might be how your spectrum of country music has changed ,hasn’t or the same. Another thing I would suggest that maybe adding some songs that you have discovered that you fell in love with this semester.

I think you have a good balance between bigger artists and also the local country music history that surrounds us in Austin. It is cool how you have experiences from Austin, South Carolina, and also nationally broadcasted shows. This really shows how far reaching country music really is. For a genre to be used in everything from dance halls to restaurants to traditional musicals speaks volumes to the variety that exists in country music.

  3. Thanks, Shelby. I think your post does a good job of reflecting not only on how your own impressions of country music shifted over the course of the semester, but also how the class’s general impressions also shifted. I LOLed a bit about your Threadgill’s comments because you’re right — butter and sugar have to be the main ingredients in all of their recipes. I mean that in the best way. I also appreciated your thoughts about how country music is experienced differently in the north and south.
