I am quite honored to be chosen as the first curator of the one and only Freshman Writing Tumblr page. The fact of the matter is that I subjected myself to this kind of torture by signing up, but hey, that’s beside the point. I would consider myself that trailblazer, blazing ahead for others to follow, and I am very excited to see all that you have to add in future weeks.
As the very first curator, I was not quite sure what to share or how I wanted to share it. I was in search of that part of me that would help the class understand where I was coming from and my values in life. I thus have shared this chosen playlist as a reflection of how I go about managing the many stressors in my life. Additionally, my Instagram story shines a light on my passions and interests. My tweets reflect my interest in community and helping others.
This week has given me a chance to share my passions, values, and emotions in a different manner than I have before. I had to look into the campus calendar, and as a result, have become more aware of all the awesome events that go on every week, if not every day. The community here at BC is rich in resources and talents. As the newest members, it is our responsibility to get involved and contribute to this phenomenal network in our new home.
I have also had to reflect on my own life and how the last 18 years have shaped who I am today. Through my efforts on social media, I hope I have given you an inside look into my life. Although I am from Vermont, I am neither a farmer nor a hippie. I’m just like the rest of you, but unique in my own way.
As the first, brave soul to bestow different parts of my life to you all, I feel my experience is very different than any of yours will be. I am planting the seed in the garden. Rachel, I challenge you to continue planting, nourishing, and harvesting our garden. I hope you enjoyed my story; I can’t wait to hear yours.
