I have had the absolute worst semester of school at UT. Most people would come into their final semester excited because typically they would be finishing a few hours up, but I guess you could say I am not like most people. I put myself in a bunch of hours, so it has been difficult going outside beside going to practice to run.
A few weeks ago our German class went to the Blanton Museum. The last time I had gone was the summer prior, however, I again was fascinated by just the entrance of the building. I even made remarks how I would love to have my wedding at the museum just because of how beautiful the stairs are. I took a snapchat of the stairs and put it on my story, but of course, I did not save it. Our class took a little adventure and had fun with this man sitting down in the picture below.
Earlier this year my family and I went to the 360 bridge for an anniversary of my sister Kalei’s birthdate. She unfortunately never got to see a day in the outside world, so in honor I told my parents to meet here for the beauty of this area. We all released the balloons in honor of our lost one. So every time I go to the 360 bridge I think of my sister in a positive way then remember going to the hospital that brings back all the bad memories. Of course, I was wearing running shorts in the picture.
My teammate created a list that has genres for food. This list has dessert, vegan/vegetarian choices, nice restaurants, hamburgers, Asian food, noodles, and honestly the list keeps going. Anyways the question always comes up to me, “where do you want to go eat?” I swear there is not a right answer to this question, however, if my first three picks are declined, I will just ask to see the list. Then we usually go to one of the places we have not checked off the list. We always take pictures of options we pick, so the picture below was at Fat Sal’s. I am a fan of unhealthy, greasy, messy, and even sweet food. This fit everything, it was a burger with bacon and pineapples. Every bite I took I felt like I was adding a second to my 800 meter time, but I would say it was worth it. I even got ice cream to top off the meal.
This semester will hopefully be the last semester of my life. I have noticed I have never really been big into taking pictures. Thankfully snapchat added a feature of having memories, because I use snapchat all the time to take pictures and I have made it where they do not save to my camera roll but only on the memories portion. The reason is because it takes less space being saved on the cloud then on my several different photo applications that Samsung has. I love looking back at my social media, and my friends to see how much each person has grown. I like that our generation has the chance to leave a digital print that will last forever.
Hi Robert! I’m curious about this list of restaurants. I often think about compiling a big list of places I like to eat at in Austin so I have options to show my parents when they come into town. Of course, I would probably throw some steakhouses I’ve never been to/ can’t afford onto the list so that they take me there. What are the top restaurants on this secret list/ where do you like to go? I think it’s funny how you always have your running shorts on. It’s kind of a unique item so that’s fun to see. Where is your favorite place to run? Do you run because you’re just fast or because you genuinely enjoy it?

That is a list from my teammate. There might be some typing errors within the list.
Hey Robert!
I loved reading your post. Your adventures were so eclectic and actually sounded so fun. I’ve still never been to Fat Sals, but I have only heard amazing things about their food. I really enjoyed learning about how you celebrated your sisters life. That is such a nice way to do that and the view up there is amazing. I am sure she was celebrating right there with you all. I am also in need of a good Austin food list because I am so indecisive when it comes to picking restaurants!
Ali
Robert,
I thoroughly enjoyed your vivid descriptions of your adventures in your post. Although I have not been to Fat Sal’s, judging from the picture, I think it looks extremely good. Your list of restaurants sorted by category is a lifesaver when going out with a group of friends. I am going to aim to hit at least half of them down before I graduate! I honestly have yet to see a list as comprehensive as the one you have posted in the comments section.

Hi Robert,
I have been to the Blanton Museum a few times and I always enjoy it. I agree that the stairs are pretty nice and it’s a great way to start the tour of the museum. I understand what you mean about having a tough semester. I did the same in regards to taking more hours, this is my last semester and I believe it has been the most difficult one.
-Johana
Hey Robert,
I really enjoyed reading about the list of restaurants that your teammate created. I have noticed that even though there are so many great restaurants around Austin, I tend to go to the same ones whenever I go out to eat. I’ll be staying here to work after graduation so I’m definitely going to do something like this and start checking off the places like you guys did. I also definitely understand why you don’t like saving all your pictures on your phone. I personally have about 3,000 pictures on my phone that take up over half of the storage of my phone so I’ll have to look into some cloud storage options to free up some of this space!
Cheers,
Adam
Robert,
Thanks for sharing the list of restaurants, I am excited to check them out!
I went to he Blanton Museum for a class about two years ago but haven’t been back. I know the staircase you mentioned and it is one of my favorite things about the museum. I think how you celebrate your sister’s life if beautiful. It can be hard to think positively about the loss of a loved one but the way you celebrate her at the 360 bridge is awesome. I hope you started to enjoy your final semester at UT more. Hook em!
