Finishing strong: Tim completes the picture

When we signed up for the social media project, I was forced to pick the last time slot. I was not too excited to be doing this project so late into the semester, but it ended up working out fine. I was able to look at all of my classmates work and add valuable things that had not been posted before.

This week was perfect for the Instagram component because of Marathon Monday. I thought this day would be perfect to tell a story that everyone would be able to relate to. I somehow remembered to snap photos even though I woke up at 5:45. I used a different filter for each of my photos and was able to include one of the first panorama shots for the account. I liked being able to tell a story through six pictures, instead of trying to pick just one perfect snapshot.

Spotify was the only social site I did not have an account with before the week began. However, this is now one of my favorite sites to use. Before I had even started to compile songs on Spotify, I made a list of songs that I had to include. I believe that my playlist is a great reflection of the different kinds of songs I like. Everything from country to rap made it on my playlist and this shows how my taste in music has evolved over time. One of the hardest parts of the Spotify playlist was compiling songs that I had not heard in class yet. I wanted to only select songs that my classmates had not used but there were definitely some repeats, as some of us have the same taste in music.

Lastly, the Twitter part of the assignment was the hardest for me. I have had my personal twitter for a year and a half and only have tweeted 100 times. It was specifically hard finding a lot of things that I could tweet that would add to our class discussions. The week was more of a collaborative week and I feel like it may have been easier to come up with content in prior weeks. For this reason, I shared many articles and videos that I thought might help my followers with their work, such as an IMovie tutorial. My favorite post was a parody GoPro video. I love to watch GoPro clips of extreme sports and thought this video was a great addition to the parodies we had watched in class.

Overall, this project was a great way to author myself in many different ways. I have never thought of myself as a big social media person. However, I enjoyed contributing to our accounts in a way that went beyond raising my hand in class.
