Looking back, this week was a lot of fun. I had the chance to become active on twitter, engage in student activities, and share my story through means other than text. Taking on the great responsibility of being another early curator seemed daunting at first. However, I found that once I began, it became a quite enjoyable thing.
I started out the week with my, “Relaxing by Gasson” playlist to remind everyone to take a moment to genuinely relax while on campus every once in a while. Setting up this playlist set the tone for the week for me. I felt ready to tackle this assignment
My instagram story was exciting to make because I was able to tell a story through pictures. Rather than simply saying, my dorm did not have a banner, so we wrote our name on a piece of paper and put it on a spear, I was able to show the lead up, the event, and the aftermath. At first we were having a nice time taking pictures as all BC freshman do at convocation. Then, the story continues to show the change in tone as we together realize, that we do not have a banner. Finally, our name is called, despite the fact that our makeshift banner had been stripped from us. We then walked down the million-dollar staircase with our torches lit. While it may be covered in a sentence, it is more fun and engaging to see it through a picture.
Unintentionally, on twitter another fun story seemed to unravel. After innocently posting the gif of bubble soccer, I happened to come by it on Friday. In the quad in front of O’Neill, to my disbelief I saw bubble soccer right in front of me. Of course I had to join and upon seeing this I tweeted to the class to let them know there was in fact, bubble soccer on the quad.
I also found twitter to be a great way to both inform the class of upcoming events such as intramural sign ups and Dave Eggers speech. When I wasn’t tweeting twitter updates, I was either tweeting questions about the readings, comments about the BC Arts calendar articles, or stress relievers such as the camel on Wednesday video.
This week as curator was an enjoyable experience and I cannot wait to see what Dave does next week.
