Cheers to the Weekend

Hi everyone! My name is Rachel Greenspan and I was this week’s media curator. Although I have Instagram and Twitter accounts of my own, I use them only to keep myself up to date and see what other people are posting, I’ve never actually posted something myself. Given that, taking control of the class’s social media accounts this week was a new experience for me, but I definitely enjoyed it. While I normally don’t think about posting on social media when I’m out with my friends, it was fun to take pictures throughout my week and decide what I wanted to share with the class. I also liked sending out reminders on the classes twitter account because it forced me to be more on top of everything we were assigned this week.

Between spending the entire last weekend at ACL and having two tests this week, I spent most of my time at the library or in my room doing work. However, I tried to post about the more relaxing and fun parts of my week. Monday night I finished my work early and was able to go hangout at my friends’ apartment, where I posted a picture of the view overlooking the city. I also got to check out the new Cow Tipping Creamery that just opened which I was excited to share with the class. I also spent most of my week getting ready for the upcoming OU weekend. Getting a cooler and snacks, and getting ready and packing for the weekend definitely got a little stressful, but I’m ready to go and the Texas/OU game and weekend in Dallas will totally be worth it. It’s been a crazy week, smack in the middle of ACL and Texas/OU weekend, but it was a lot of fun, and a good break from studying, to post and share my experiences throughout the week with everyone.

  1. I loved your picture of what you got at the Cow Tipping Creamery, it looked so delicious and I’m always curious to find more unique (and picture worthy) food in Austin. I’m also not a frequent poster on Instagram and Twitter, mostly because I feel like I never find the time to pick a picture and post it. I think it will be a real change for me when I am in charge of the social media accounts for the class. Also, it’s nice to know that having some relaxation time is possible in the midst of studying and football games!

  2. Holy Cow! That Cow Tipping picture looks very appetizing. I’ll have to stop by sometime soon. The view of the stadium in your IG pic looked great. I wasn’t able to watch the game from inside the stadium, but I can only imagine that atmosphere that it had. It’s great to have eventful weekends – in a way it makes us work harder during the week, so that the weekend is in a way a reward. Thanks for sharing your week with us!

  3. Random breaks you get from school work are the absolute best! I’m glad someone atleast had the opportunity to enjoy that break. I have had a pretty hectic week so far in regards with school, work, and running my organization. I have also been meaning to try that Cow Tippin place! By the looks of it, the place serves a lot of ice cream. Thanks for posting that photo!I hope to try it out soon, when I get a chance to relax from school assignments. This really gives me an incentive to complete all my work so I can get to go out and relax.

  4. Hi Rachel! I agree with everyone above- that ice cream that you posted a picture of looks amazing! I am definitely going to have to try that place sometime. We’ll see if it is better than my personal favorite Austin ice cream, Amy’s (highly recommend to anyone reading this). I think it’s interesting that you mentioned how you don’t ever post from your personal social media accounts. Is there a reason that you don’t ever post? It took me a few years to join the Instagram and Twitter craze but once I did, it became sort of exciting to see how different people would interact with my posts. As for the rest of your week, ACL and OU weekend are two great UT experiences that I think everyone should experience at least once while they are a Longhorn. Thanks for sharing!

  5. I’m not really much of a picture-taker too! I actually try to make sure I don’t have my phone on me while I’m out because I feel that sometimes it gets in the way of actually enjoying what you’re doing and who you’re with. At the same time it’s great to look back on photos and reminisce. But I really need to try out that creamery. My friends told me it’s really good so I can’t wait. It sounds like you had a great weekend though. It’s necessary to have times when you just relax and it sounds like you’re really good with time management which is an essential skill that most people don’t have. Share your secrets lol.

  6. It’s weird going back and reading this post 2 weeks after it was posted, but I had the exact same situation! Super stressful week in between two of the most fun weekends of the semester… Definitely a cram week, I don’t even like thinking back to it. I also didn’t know there was a new Cow Tipping Creamery nearby, so I’ll be hitting them up soon.
