My initials are (AH).  So before I write the actual post, I just want to make sure that everyone understands that my initials are the same as the textual representation of someone screaming which is rather unfortunate..

Anyways, I had the pleasure of acting as the media curator this week with Pamela. Overall, the assignment was a little more challenging than I thought it would. No matter the medium, I spent more time thinking about who would see my post and how it would reflect on me and my personality since my initials were attached to it. It does not sound logical since my name is also attached to my private profile and those profiles receive more attention. I think the fact that I am in a class with those viewing my posts makes a difference. Instead of simply receiving feedback in the digital realm on a post, posting on the class account feels a bit more real and attached to reality.

My favorite part of the assignment was creating the Spotify playlist because it was a fun way to look back through my collection of music and choose the songs that gave me the most joy or brought back positive memories. I ended up choosing songs that invoke different emotions in me due to the experiences I was reminded of. The playlist includes songs that remind me of high school and some that remind me of when I lived in Alabama.

Before creating this playlist, I hadn’t really thought about how much media can affect your emotions. While I was searching for pictures to post to instagram or looking for music, past memories crept into my mind. For example, I ended up posting a couple of pictures from last year when I was studying abroad in London and I was reminded of all of the things and places I had seen while I was abroad.

The assignment was a good learning experience and one of the more entertaining “writing” assignments I’ve had to do while in college. I have never had to post from a community social media account before so this was brand new to me. The week was a lot of fun and I’m glad I got to share a bit of my personality with the class!
