“It is for homework”

Throughout this semester, I have explored Austin and some of the many wonderful  attractions that this city has to offer. I grew up coming out here fairly often as I live in Houston and we have a lake house on Travis, but never really had the opportunity to see all of Austin, and the various things that this city contains. However, now I had an excuse because it was for homework! I had always been told to try various things from friends and family, and now I actually got to explore some and would like to share them with you.

My first journey that I embarked on was having a picnic at Zilker park. When we went, the weather was perfect, not too hot, and there was not a cloud in the sky. This is the perfect spot to just go and chill or even bring a frisbe and play around with friends. I have also gone and brought my Eno before, which is so relaxing. I always love going to Zilker because there are always so many dogs, like the puppy in this photo. During this time, I was definitely more detached from my phone because I was there with my friends and it was so nice outside, so there was no real need to be using it at that time.

Next, I head on up to Mount Bonnell to watch the sunset. This attraction has one of the best views in Austin, as it looks over Lake Austin, and is the perfect place to watch the sunrise or sunset. The hike up was not bad at all and there are different paths once you get up to the top that you can explore. When I went we got there just in time for the sunset and since there are so many different trails and spots up there, you will never have a bad view. On this excursion, I really liked having my phone with me, as I was using it to capture pictures of the sunset.

Last weekend, I also participated in the annual campus wide event, Round Up. Every year my sorority hosts an event called “Pancake Party,” where we serve all you can eat pancakes. We also had face painting and a photo booth as a part of our event. All of the money raised goes to our philanthropy, CASA of Travis County. Round Up is such an exciting weekend, as there is always something going on. Many of my friends from other schools even came in for it, so it was really fun getting to see so many familiar faces. My phone was very much connected to me this weekend since it was such a busy one and helped me to meet up with friends as well has showed me the schedule.

These three adventures have definitely opened my eyes to all that Austin has to offer. I cannot wait to continue my journey and keep exploring! If anyone has any places that they have loved going too or ideas of where tat I should go to next please let me know!
