Adventures in Austin

Austin has so many places to explore and activities to do, that a day in Austin is never boring. I have been on many adventures this semester but the adventures during Spring break have been my favorite so far. I stayed in Austin this Spring Break and even though the first couple of days went to watching Netflix to de-stress from the first half of the semester, as the week progressed my life got more exciting.

The first weekend I worked for a start-up company called Bunee. The company is developing a new app that combines the features of Tinder and SnapChat plus other new features (coming soon to an app store near you :P).  A team of two girls and a guy with a bunny head went to the most crowded places around downtown and promoted the app during South by South West.  As we made our way through Sixth Street, we would stop and take pictures with people from all over the world to spread brand awareness during the festival. I don’t think I have ever talked to so many random people in my life like I did during my time working for Bunee. I loved meeting people from all over the world and the hearing about their experiences in Austin.

Taking a break from work for Bunee, my friend Kelly and I went paddle boarding on Town Lake. The weather was perfect for a day out, not too hot but not cold. I was so scared of standing on the board but finally managed to stand up and paddle board
standing up and surprisingly I did not fall. Even though my phone could have died that day because I am such a klutz and could have easily dropped it in the lake, I needed to take it to take pictures of my first experience paddle boarding!

After a couple of hours of some fun in the sun we went to one of our favorite restaurants in Austin, Gourdoughs! Since I have a terrible sense of direction I had to use google maps on my phone to locate the restaurant. Gourdoughs has the best doughnuts I have ever tasted in my short 20-year life! They have live music on Friday nights which is a neat experience while eating a delicious doughnut.

My phone has become like a third arm, its part of me! During my experience working with the Bunee company I realized that technology is a convenient tool for people to share their experiences and connect with people from all over the world. Even though I personally don’t like to post my experiences on social media, I do like to take pictures of everything that happens during my adventures! I love coming back home after a long day and scrolling through my photo library and laughing over and over again about the random things that happen during that day. My phone easily captures my life, stores my memories and enables me to go back a re-live my adventures.
