Final Say

I didn’t really know what to expect when I came to class the first day but yet somehow this class exceeded my non-existent expectations.  I recommend approaching this class with an open mind.  Over the course of the semester, Ms. Barta will make you think about things differently than you used to.  Despite my major having nothing to do with rhetoric or the iPhone, I find myself influenced by this class almost daily.  I constantly am seeing things in my every day life that I now begin to question and think about in ways I never have before.  What is authorship?  How is this person or company authoring themselves to the public?  Is this person’s Instagram account an authentic representation of his or her self?  What ways am I influenced by others’ use of rhetoric?  Ms. Barta does an amazing job of making the class feel like a community, and I recommend taking the time to read other blog posts and getting to know your classmates.  I was really amazed at how many awesome things our class did this semester, and especially our final presentations.  You will have to really dedicate yourself to the rigorous writing and revision process but I promise that the results are worth it.  I have learned a great deal about myself through this class that is supposedly about the iPhone and I feel confident that future students will be able to say the same thing.
